Last Sunday, I went to compete at Copa Alma in Aichi prefecture. But, there was no opponent not just in my weight category, but also in absolute. So, my debut at a local tourney has been postponed.
But, I got to meet a nice blue-belt woman who trains at Team ALIVE in Nagoya, and also a Brazilian woman I fought in female purple-belt absolute at Asian Tournament 2010. It was a fun reunion and worth a travel. :)
Well, I think all women who want to get in shape should try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It's safe and fun! And most importantly, it helps to burn your body fat faster than any other sports.
GOTTA TRY THIS, LADIES!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another thing was that the most of the participants in BJJ tourneys in Aichi area are Brazilians. Could be around 80%. Quite high, given that this, in fact, is in Japan.
My first BJJ teacher when I started was a Brazilian, Carlson Gracie. The way the last-weekend crowds cheered for the lutadores and the way they yelled at the judge during the match instantly brought me back to those days in Chicago. I recalled his yelling furiously at me during my matches... A fond memory of old Master... :)
Well, loved the atmosphere. I definitely should come to Nagoya tourneys more.
